Mad Minerals Make-up Review

0

Going chemical free with our home and bodies is something many of us strive for today. The “going green” revolution has brought about many changes to the way we do things in our daily life and it also decreases our negative impact on the Earth. While there may not be enough studies done on the products with chemicals to be certain of their effect on our health, no one can argue that natural would be best for us. Just consider the multitude of things that were once thought to be OK or healthy for us, only to later discover they harmed us tremendously: heroin, mercury,  tapeworms, and so many more!

While I had been taught growing up that nature is what is best for us, there were still the influences of the world around me telling me to use chemical home cleaners, artificially scented sprays, and chemical filled make-up to make sure I had a clean home, a pretty face, and smelled lovely.

I heard about mineral make-up many years ago and thought, “oh, that’s way too expensive for my taste”. Finding a balance between being green and being frugal can be a challenge at times. Then, I read an article about the truth of the name brand “mineral make-up” products available in stores. Apparently, they are marketing these products as mineral make-up even if the amount of natural mineral in them is minimal. I looked through all the options sold at Target, then I went to Ulta to check out the ingredients on the high end brands as well. The article was factual. That’s when I looked online and found some pure minerals on Amazon for an OK price. I tried it out and was impressed with the coverage of the foundation. It felt fantastic and completely weightless on my skin.

I was quickly informed by my sister about Mad Minerals. I bought their foundation and got a variety of color samples to test out as well. The first thing you will notice when you visit the website, is the giant selection of shades, not only in foundation, but in multi-use colors as well. I used Toffee as an eyeshadow. It’s very subtle. I liked this for a soft everyday look.

Shell used as a bronzer added just a hint of color to my medium-fair skin and gave my cheeks the shimmer I look for when I use bronzer.

I applied the gorgeous shade Day Dreamer to my daughters eyes. You’ve got to see these colors in person to appreciate their true beauty. This blue shimmer color applied on her entire lid was screaming Cinderella!!

Disney fanatic that I am, I couldn’t stop thinking about Cinderella with the Day Dreamer shade, so I went ahead and mixed it with some clear nail polish and created some magical toes.
