Early Language Learning with Kids’ Candor

4

I didn’t have the opportunity to learn a language when I was a child, so I feel very motivated to encourage my children to learn one. I had a blast teaching my son baby sign language when he was a toddler. As fun as that was, I had no idea how to approach the learning of a new language with my little boy. I know of Rosetta Stone, but it isn’t exactly intended for the young ones. I wish Kids’ Candor was an option for us at that influential time in his life, as well as my Daughter’s a few years later.

Kids’ Candor is a bilingual education program designed for ages 0-4 and delivered as a monthly subscription box. Each box is filled with age appropriate materials that encourage a fun approach to learning a new language. When you sign up to Kids’ Candor you and your child can look forward to playing games, listening to music, playing with toys, and exploring the well planned out activities provided in each kit.

Opening our kit was super exciting! Everything was neatly organized by activity and everything fit into a theme of “feelings”. I was blown away by the activity cards that were included. The cards were designed to guide you through a variety of games and lessons that utilize the materials that come in the kit. My favorite part is that some of the activities are about putting things together, so that later activities can use what you’ve created together. As an avid crafter and mom who’s very passionate about creating things, I think this is a very smart way to get kids involved in the kit and the lessons they will participate in. Creating is so important for their development and motor skills.

Over the course of the next few weeks, we listened to music, read a story about emotions, created masks that show expression, and acted out stories in both English and Spanish. The best part for my kids was the faces book. This was a fun reusable sticker set with a large variety of cling sticker faces and characters. My kids had the chance to place whichever faces they liked, and then we talked about what was going on in the scene and how each character felt. They were enthusiastic about this activity book and I enjoyed watching them get excited as they played with it.

At this point, my kids are beyond the ages this program was designed for, but they still had a blast. I am so glad we found Kids’ Candor and I am excited to share it with everyone else. They have subscription options or you can choose to purchase a single kit or two. Visit KidsCandor.com to explore their shop and read more about how this great company started.
