Secret Ingredient Biscuits from Scratch

0

I’ve tried so many biscuit recipes. Ones that claim to mimic recipes from famous restaurants, ones that are supposed to be easy and delicious, ones that are supposed to be the best ever in the whole entire world! I couldn’t find what I was looking for, though. I kept at it, and I altered a few things, then I finally created my own version of the many I had tried. I added a secret ingredient, and I found success. Everyone who tries these biscuits are in love. Even if they don’t typically like the secret ingredient. I’m sharing my secret with you now.

I get many compliments on my homemade biscuits from scratch. There is a secret ingredient you'll love! I'm letting you in on that secret now. Come check out the recipe.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • 2 TB baking powder
  • 1/4 cup unrefined sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • **2/3 cup coconut oil** <- that’s the secret
  • 1 1/3 cups whole milk

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 475 degrees
  2. Blend flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. Pour melted coconut oil into dry ingredients and mix with (clean) hands until blended. It will be lumpy.
  4. Pour in milk and blend to make a moist dough.
  5. Grab chunks about the size of your palm and place evenly on a greased (or parchment lined) baking sheet.
  6. Bake 12-15 minutes or until slightly browned on top.
  7. Brush melted coconut oil on top of fully baked, hot biscuits.
  8. Enjoy!

My brother-in-law and my father-in-law claim to hate coconut everything. But they enjoyed these, so I never told them what the secret was. These also make a great breakfast the next day, just add some fresh berries!
